The Local Council of Salonta Municipality is the deliberative authority that manages issues of local interest, operating under GEO 57/2019 on the Administrative Code, with subsequent amendments and additions. It consists of 17 councilors who carry out their activity in specialized Committees.

Main responsibilities of the councilors

  1. Approves or endorses, as appropriate, studies, forecasts and socio-economic development programs, territorial organization and planning documentation, including participation in county, regional, zonal and cross-border cooperation programs.
  2. Approves the local budget, loans, credit transfers and the use of budget reserves; approves the closure of the budget year; establishes local taxes and fees, as well as special fees.
  3. Administers the public and private domain of the commune or city.
  4. Decides on granting administration, concession or lease of public property of the commune or city, as well as local public services.
  5. Establishes public institutions, commercial companies and local public services; monitors, controls and analyzes their activity; establishes organization and operation norms for local public institutions and services.
  6. Decides on the establishment and reorganization of autonomous local companies; exercises all shareholder rights in commercial companies it has established; decides on the privatization of these companies.
  7. Analyzes and approves territorial planning and urban planning documentation for localities; approves allocation of local budget funds for flood, fire, disaster and dangerous weather protection.
  8. Establishes measures for the construction, maintenance and modernization of roads, bridges, and local communication infrastructure.
  9. Approves, within its competence, technical-economic documentation for local investment works and ensures conditions for their implementation.
  10. Contributes to organizing scientific, cultural, artistic, sports and leisure activities.
  11. Acts for the protection and restoration of the environment to improve quality of life; contributes to the protection, conservation, restoration and enhancement of historical and architectural monuments, parks and nature reserves.
  12. Ensures freedom of trade and encourages free initiative.
